3 Minutes Full Of Fun!!!!!!!

Today was in its best my first ever bass session watched over by the people I know.... Kunal's friends were home and Jaideep hadn't yet seen my bass and asked me to play something on it. Having practised 'Get Out The Door' by Velvet Revolver God knows how many times, I decided well, let's do it... and suddenly out popped 2 mobile phones on record mode (Rahul and Kundu, the ones recording)! The song kicked in, for which I played bass... am kicking myself for not increasing the volume!!!!!!!!

Later, I played around with 'Sleep Now In The Fire' (Rage Against The Machine) and 'Get Free'. Forgot all about 'Seven Nation Army' (White Stripes)!

Might sound silly blogging about just a home session, but well, it meant a lot to me... so I sat there, playing bass in front of someone and it felt good! Being just a beginner, I wasn't sure I could pull it off and well it didnt turn out as bad as I thought, eventually!

Now I have to hunt for the bootleg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

PS:- Kundu, the volume mix-up at 0: 50 was hilarious! ;)

Time Warp...

Turn the page, turn back time
Go back there, you know what's to come
Change is all that's there to do,
Pick your moment, do the needful.

Watch yourself in that pitiable state
Or someone needing all the help
Go ahead, do your thing for the stage's set
Change one thing, you change another.

Go back to a screwed up gig
Pick up your stuff and improvise.
Back to a bitter fight you had,
Say what you missed out on, work it may.

Spend that lost time with someone you knew
Knowing, the next day, they aren't to be
Hitch the ride that could change your life,
It's as easy as that, the path, ever clear.

So do everything you can, change your identity,
Without sparing a thought, let your lessons go to the bin,
It's all you can think about, seek the best way out,
For you're the maker now, only thinking lesser.

It's the past that makes you be,
One day, I hope you'll eventually see,
So stray away from all the time-shifting disease
With what's left, you live, you lead and yourself release.

P.S:- One day time shifting could be a possibility. Use it for good, or one's own needs. The latter's most obvious wouldn't you agree?
The challenge is in sticking to where you are and facing life as it unveils itself. So the question is
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Sculpted War!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I was bored with nothing to do last week during Painting week and so decided to go to the other batch where the guys were working on their Relief Works (Sculpture)... and with all the extra clay that lay there, I couldn't help but enter my "creative phase" :P... and so I began moulding monsters, if I may call em that, and voila! It didn't turn out that bad!!!!

With the sponsorship issue solved thanks to Mysore Sandal Soap, all I had to do was name the scene in picture... this time around I wasn't that creative! All I could come up with was "MORTAL COMBAT"!!!!! (Geez, I know!!!!!)

Muhahaha All The Way!!!!!!!!

PS:- There were some issues of Piracy involved too with certain people recording the rare sight through their cameras! Beware, thou shalt be punished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taglines A Plenty!!!!!!!

Captions and taglines.... Ain't they a must in today's world? They're added to Hindi movies, K serials and now... the best of em all........... ORKUT PROFILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These days it's a given that people think they're really cool.... but there are some who want to be different... who want to specify how their personal life is through captions..DEPRESSED, IN LOVE! And that's where these taglines come in... to prove that their life is like the worst possible one and at times most happening!

Let me guide you through some of the maestros.... but NOTE that certain names have been changed coz hey! I don't wanna be jailed by them already depressed ones!!!!

Lallu - Feelings My Love!!!
Chetan - For Love...
Lallu (another profile... how many do u need man????) - Feel My Love
Anonymous (For obvious reasons...) - Curse Of My Love...Because Love Hurts Me!!! (That's a killer line dude... maybe if we knew your name, you'd be awarded the CHEESIEST ONE OF EM ALL award)
Malatesh
- Love The Music Of Love (Man, are you confused!!!!)
Sarkar - Wanna Fall In Love... Wicked Game (Freakin Loser only!)
Rohit - Love Me Girls!!!!! (Man, how many desperate guys are on your tail??)
Bhim - Puppy Love (Oh, My God!!!!!!)

Desperados!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now introducing the world of the DEPRESSED ones....

Navin - I'm Depressed (Now that's so honest of u dude...)
Ravi - More Depressed (Full competition and all, huh?)

Raghu - Well Depressed From Life (Woah U've decided!! Jackpot!!!!)
Anonymous - Mad, Depressed and Finished! No Way Of Recovery!! (Dude, Suicidal Tendencies Indeed!)
Sayak - Depressed, Lost 16 kgs (Some people will be really happy when they achieve dat feat!)
Anonymous - Depressed, Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (SCARY!!!!)
Utkarsh (Here's a glitter of hope) - Go and Sleep, If Ur Depressed!!!!

While such people think they're open and honest, they forget that they scare the shit outta you! Watch some Tom N' Jerry and lighten up fellas.... or Join a Depressed community and rehabilitate yourselves... hopefully a Psychiatrist will be the moderator!!!

Then the COOL ones....

Arshad- Bigger Than The Sun (Must Be A Liliput in reality!)
Anonymous - Fear, The Mother Of Mortality (Yeah, the "I Fear No One" attitude... I'll lock you in the bathroom with no lights on! Scram!!!)
Prem - Rite, NOW I AM COOL (And he has Rajanikanth as his Display Image! Wahahahahaha!!!!)
Sanket - Like To Biking ***Cool Guy*** (Hold your horses dude, people with Lunas are cooler!)
Krunal - Final Truce Wid Destiny (Right, Tell Me How It Goes!)

Unlike the depressed ones, these people have no sense of modesty!!!!! Oh, My!!!!

See... so what do I derive outta these freakish cases?

This world is full of desperate losers who think they're cool and showing that attitude get slapped in the face and finally get depressed and lose their minds!!!

So go ahead and add another caption... another slick line... and make my day... I'll have lots to write about!!!! :)

Groggy's The Word!

Still there, the Sunday hangover
Open are my eyes to see what's next
Wanna go back under the cover
Psyched, under no pretext.

Where I go everyday, there's no one for some time
Eventually they come, bored heads, not just some
And a week begins, just like a song with rhyme
The hope's still there, of a great week to come.

The most hectic work, the sleepy sessions
Sitting there, waiting for the hand to shift
To the deadline, first on the list of confessions
Wishing for the time to go by, really swift.

Get back home, nothing's on TV
Plain, bland the food too ;)
There's nothing to do, so jobless and free
As Time flies by, I'm left wondering what to do.

The years might go by, but the trend's there
Of a boring first day, unfortunately true
It's gonna come next week too, so unfair
Can't brush past it, That's a Monday for you.

PS:- Just crawled through one today! ;)

For Starters!

Took the road to nowhere
When nothing was left to do
Through the hazy window of my lair
The lair on wheels I'm tuned to.

Dew drops on the windshield
On a hopefully beautiful day
Watch them go, the lush green fields
When do I stop, who's to say.

And with my radio-a-playin
I shake my head in tune
Keepin the car from swayin
Noone's to be seen in the rear view.

Turn back, Yes, I'm sure to, it's not far
To be part of just another boring day
But I stop and walk out the car
Toss that coin I never use to pay

Stop, I have at the bridge never forgotten
Where I come by everyday, to be secluded
The coin goes in, the ripples, ridden
This is how my day's begun... and concluded.

PS:- Slog -Sleep - Slog... This is the case for many these days. What would you do to bring in a change... To start off your day? Well, I got thinking and out popped this!

Chains and Circles Make my day!

The Wall!

Life at CKP's great fun! Then there's also all the fun outside college like side projects if I may call them that! Got the chance to do some art work for a film (Lucky Bastards) and I was all up for it when I came to know that what we had to do was Graffiti!!!!! Yup, total excitement and all!! The place turned out to be a garage at Hebbal, no... Kodigehalli, no... Sahakarnagar! Yes that was it!!!! 10 people were required but only 3 of us friends ended up doing the work! Why do people back out?! Tsk, Tsk...!!!!

The rain was pouring everytime we had to travel and I ended up wet all the time. Ginelle and Dhvani, my partners in crime were better off :P!
The first day we went to check out the place... you know... understand the route and all! Once we got there we were asked to give the wall a "Druggie Adda Look". Anyway, the first day the three of us finished the basic pencil work of the headline text "Herb Shop"! The director asked us to give it a splattered look.

The second day, we completed the paint work and "Herb Shop" was ready! Yippee- ka - Yay!!!! Dhvani couldn't make it that day. So Ginelle and I had to split the work amongst ourselves. The paint job was great fun. At college we aren't yet allowed to use paint and here we were, Painting on a Wall (Asian Paints that too)!!!!!! That was something! I was slow as usual while Ginelle finished letter after letter real easy! She did panic a lot though when the paint dripped! LOL!!!

Then came the best part!

There was this switchboard bang in the middle of the wall and we were asked to use it in the concept! Ginelle came up with the idea of a skull, but one with a switchboard for brains! LOL!!! I know it sounds crazy, but once it was finished, we were told it was cool! Hell, ok... it did look cool! We added some cracks and wires popping out and out of the mouth came a cigarette that blew smoke eventually forming the "O" of "Herb Shop". Again, we just finished the pencil work of the skull.

Then the trio made its return on the third and final day to complete the entire wall. The paint went in. This time we were all real fast! We did end up messing up the smoke but after some turpentine finish it looked smokey! We were to add extra text too, 'Pro- Drug Use' one liners and stuff. The director wasn't sure about what text could go up there and so he asked us to come up with our own stuff... anything that stuck with the concept. So I came up with one- liners such as 'Take that Pill, Smoke the Weed', 'High, But Still Not There', 'Junkhead', 'Up For It Punk?', 'Them Veins All Loaded', 'Dope Fiend', etc. Dhvani came up with the cool idea of a fist with the index finger pointing at the veiwer, over which she added the word 'Rebel'. She followed it up with the other text giving them the punk look. Ginelle experimented with different fonts on 'Wicked', 'Creep' and the earlier mentioned 'T.V.A.L'. After the text-paint job, our work was done and the snaps taken!

It was a great experience and the fact that I had my friends for company was cool.

PS:- So who you gonna call?

Dreams...

At first, darkness is all you see
When in sleep, you pretend to be
Patches of yellow and green then slowly creep in
Blending into a picture, earlier unseen.

Its often the best thing that could happen to you
Most often than not, it's too good to be true
A perfect scenario with your favourite little crew
With an ending so vague, that you never knew.

Very tricky dreams are, with the boundaries running farther,
You fade out a picture and enter another
Free to do anything, even fly for that matter
Believe me, I've had many, weird as ever!

Sometimes, instances, they might be of pure horror
Leaving you shivering and trembling, only to gasp and stutter
To wake up from them, you'd wish forever
But they get over slowly, as if for you to savour.

At times, sad little events do creep in
With tangible changes, you think should have been
Would you like to hang in there or just fade away?
It's not yours to decide in a dream, run or stay.

A fall it may be or an accident too
A horrifying image, scaring the shit out of you
A climax you're expecting oh so eagerly,
That's when you wake up and it's all over eventually.

Lame it may seem till you dream again
Before they're erased, write them down without refrain
You may see what you want or have a sleepless night,
It's just a fitting end to dusk, at dawn, a delight.

It's often opposite in reality, any outcome there might be
Learn from them, the little aspects, try to see
For they might come back to hit you right in the face
Given the same situation, say even same place.

PS :-

It's no dream that you're reading this
Nor is the fact that I came up with it
Pinch yourself to be sure,
Hey, I did that too!

Killer Box Office!

The stuff about insanely bad movies!

1. Ridiculous plots, cheesy humour.
2. You've seen them before, how original!
3. Strange, hilarious dialogue delivery
4. The lamest lines one can think of
5. Remarkable expressions as if at gun point
6. Snakes on planes, afterlife soft-toys and dangling in the air-kickboxers
7. There's always the dubbing but remakes somehow come through
8. Pulling hard on their noose, all the one hit wonders.
9. The mushy power rock soundtracks, the worst possible decision!

They work their charm on many, sad to say
But you're sure they are flops anyway
Screaming "Cash Back" the many, all their lives
Make a top 100 flop board, darting it with knives!

PS:- If there's anything good that comes out of such movies, it's just the uncanny talent of the film-makers to make you laugh your ass off!

Anyone up for Shivaji : The Boss ???????

Transformed!

Was always a big Automobile Freak! Always loved Robots! Merge the two = Dream come true!!! Used to wake up early in the morning just to watch the cartoon series Transformers and this was back when I was 5 or so! And with the movie having released this week, I can't wait to watch it! Might be low on a storyline but the graphics and action give the very same effect as the series a little magnified though! Will I end up watching it on the Big Screen.... will let ya know if and when that happens!

Well, its the 4th of September and yeah I finally watched it. Felt it was cheesy at some instances but the humour and action were really top notch!

Yeah, There's more to it than meets the eye!

I - DAY 2007

Sang the National Anthem with my college pals which didnt turn out as bad as we expected which was later followed by a Dub(ey)ious speech! LOL!!! Then came the best part... Nope! Not the food (which sucked btw). Well I'm talkin about the freakin Photo Frenzy! It was crazy, amazing, LOL-ish and well Classy too! The snaps varied from whole class to headbangers to punched-in-the-face idiot to earrings and craters! LOL!!!!! Some people were gettin creative too (folding paper plates... innovative indeed) ;)!!!!!! All that was missing was the "What-What" conversation!;)

Kickass Day, Kickass Fun!!! We celebrated Freedom Alright!!!!

PS:- Just wish the flag fluttered! Where was all the wind??????!!!!!!!

CKP....

Away from the usual routine of "Lecture-Write-Attendance" and through the door to a whole new world... It's amazing! Just the right place to get creative, know all-the-time-friendly people who are also the Ragging Seniors!LOL!!! Listening to music while sketching, a walk through the campus for a break(anytime) and real great friends... what more does one need?

Only painful and rather a struggling situation is the Sittin on the wooden donkey routine! I'm talking about the hard benches we have in class... Cozy is exactly what they aren't!

The first week started with a boring Draw Lines for 5 hours thing! Yeah, even at this level! And if you people are wondering what we exactly do in college, well.....

1. Listen to 'Artistic' lecturers tellin us to 'feel' things and draw more LINES!
2. Chai Break
3. MP3- accompanied sketch sessions
4. Chai Break
5. LUNCH! YUMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Slow consuming of food in my case ;)
6. Chats going on for hours
7. The occasional Rag-athon(3 times already)
8. Chat more
9. Get bored and go for another Chai Break
10. Listen to the "NO MOBILES" Rule
11. Break again...
12. Walk outta college (something we can do anytime :P)

So yeah, this is the usual cycle and after two weeks of drawing lines, leaves and shapes I still can't have enough of the fun that we guys have! Though we have all the freedom, we people actually end up doing the work we are asked to do! That's how it is

Freedom
Friends
LINES LINES LINES
Quality time with seniors
BREAK BREAK BREAK
Sleepy Sketching
A Million Yawns
TATA!

Gotta go complete '20' sketches....:P

PEACE OUT!

PS:- You can walk in anytime you want!

No Man's Land...

The planes overhead sway out of control
While I lay here, yelling and wounded
No help coming, is no one alive?
All the hopes, all that strife.

A mine blast, somewhere close by
Another one down, goodbye comrade
Close my eyes as someone approaches
The enemy, he must be, won't budge.

The smell of gun powder, the last cries of many
I hear them ringing in my head constantly
Will take my time to see what we did to this place
As home is farfetched a thought now, rest in peace.

This used be a place, beautiful and plush green
Now only covered with corpses, guns and shells
The sky's all brown, a shade of red too
That's what we have made of it, an act too cruel.

No going back now, though the past comes to mind
The happy little life too, that I left behind
A week before it was that I was with them
All left to die now, didn't even say goodbye.

I heard the trucks, and the cheering soldiers too
Singing the victory song, all too familiar
We hadn't lost after all, the battle's won
The cork shall fly, the champagne shall flow.

Haunted by the thought that I'm left behind
All forgotten, they must think I'm dead
A flare I'd fired, waiting for them to return
It's been two days now, can't move and I'm on my own.

Pray for them people, pray for their souls,
The dead didn't see it coming, the silence shows
The many that died, the many I killed
Am better of dead too, at a point of no return.

Worth The Wait...

The letter's on the table
Remember I said I'd leave?
Read it, when you may
Know I'll miss you day by day.

Said things I should never have
Can't take them back, now it's too late
See you one day, wait till then
Things shall be better, hope the same.

Could have written more things down
Could have waited till Junior'd be back home
But I can't do that you know
Make him go through all that.

The car should be here by now
A last minute note this is
I'm sorry again, keep writing
Cause I'm sure I'd reply.

Pray for the day the white flags show
Cause there's no better place than home
Know I'll miss you, the toddler too
Will make it back, Don't give up too soon.

All To No Avail...

Kill time when you least have it
Pull the trigger when the barrel's empty
Stand there and frown straight at the mirror
Shout the loudest when no one's around.

Read that book in haste when it's only all yours
Drive that car too fast when you know you're the one paying
Drink from the bottle when you're already wasted
Save that bitter syrup for later when you know you really need it.

Take that dope, hide it when the coplights appear.
Swallow that pill of yours and lose yourself
Take that last step at the edge of the cliff
Try taking back what you said, as the tears trickle down.

Blow the horn after everyone's dead
Blow that ticker, disturb the peace
Dense the clouds with what you smoke
Give them the justice they don't deserve.

Chase a hurricane coming your way
Belt that television screen after the last run
Take that bet knowing you've already lost it
Talk to the walls awaiting a reply.

Check your watch a little too late
Follow things thanks to just the hype
Loosen the grip over things when you can't afford to
Just open your eyes, You already have.

5. Friends sticking by ALL THE TIME!
6. CSI, Prison Break, the Simpsons and Seinfeld!
7. The dull computer screen with same quality poetry!
8. Hog, Hog, Hog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
9. Rock again to the neighbours' horror!
10. Sit- Think- Idea....... On the paper!!!

Room for another Karu in this world? Wud pity the fellow humans if dat were the case.....

Livin It, Lovin It!

PEACE OUT!

Man In The Dark...

He talks whenever he wants to
Sees things and falsely judges
Tells me what he wants me to do
The victim I am, building up grudges.

While he sits back, as always, smiling
They punish me for his ideas and acts
To stay away is what I'm always trying,
Do as I say or suffer, such are the pacts.

Right when and where I don't want him to be
A shame he is to my very name
Making me pull off tricks as the many eyes see
Failing to know this is my life, not a game.

Have made it this far, how much farther can I go
As he mercilessly, plots and orders me around
I'll be behind bars one day and everyone will know
As over and over again, guilty, I'm found.

Can't block him out, can't shoot him down
Because it's always he who will decide
Two faces of the very same coin we are
Well, after all, he's my other side.

- Problems a guy with MPD might face....

The Pages Turn...

Long time since I picked up a book
To read and look through every nook
Now I wonder what it'll take, for me
To finish the book in hand, let's see.

Unputdownable, they say, this one is
A book many hype, one not worth the miss
Something inside, tells me I'll love it
Will read on, as against the wall I sit.

As the many hours quickly pass by
So do the fresh pages, it's no lie
Go on, if I may, this way
Will finish by dawn, sure to say .

As the lights go off outside
Feel, to this book, I'm tied
Unlike before, my eyes ain't drooping
Awake I shall be, let morning come, shining.

In no way is it a big one, am almost at the ending,
Eleven pages to go, am nowhere close to sleeping
Wanna finish it fast, the bulb's getting dimmer
Have to race against time, as the chances look slimmer.

As the sun in all its glory appears, so does, on my face, a smile
With the bulb burning out, the last page will have to wait a while
Curious to know, I run to the armchair outside, with a deep sigh
As it turns out, the story's a tragedy, and I'm left wondering "Why?!"

LIBERTAD's HERE TO STAY!!!!

Let It Roll
.... and there begins a rockathon of riffs, punching basslines... Think Forward! That's exactly what these guys in VR have decided.... She Mine takes one back to the AIC age... dark yet very poppy! On Get Out The Door, Weiland's vocal shape-shifting's personified! Slash's voicebox does the talking and leaves the rest to Scott to scream his a** off! She Builds Quick Machines seems to me the weakness of this album, not to take anything away from the album, but its a fact... it is the weakest song on the album... Slash's solo levels things a bit... The Last Fight is a slow melody, all about Slash this time. One thing's for sure, this one will be a big hit! Pills, Demons, Etc. rests on a killer riff but the rest needs some getting used to. American Man punks things up great! Great bridge, even better Solo (Slash is back), a complete song and one people can sing along to. Mary, Mary brings back memories of STP, good Rock N' Roller! The album does seem to give a punk feel after The Last Fight, very evident! Just Sixteen is THE song which one can never get bored of! Two solos from Slash leave listeners pumped up! Can't Get It Out Of My Head has a melancholic touch to it... its a cover version of an ELO song btw. Brendan O' Brien's decision is justified! This is a helluva cover! And I can't get it out of my head, to be frank! For A Brother is catchy, with Scott perfect on vocals, good bridge too and Slash? well, need i say anything?! Rock N' Roll's BACK!!!!!! Listen to Spay and you'll be left wondering if Cobain's back because this song has that Nirvana sound to it! It's up with the likes of GOTD, JS and SM... And btw, the song's aimed at the Paris Hiltons of our generation! LOL!!!! Things have to come to an end and to do exactly that there's Gravedancer... a perfect finish! Don't turn that system off because there's a hidden track Don't Drop That Dime. After listening to this song you'll be more than convinced that these guys can pull off anything!

So have these guys improved? Ofcourse they have! Libertad is way better than Contraband and goes places where the debut couldn't. While Contraband was a way too serious album, Libertad is FUN all the way!

Cursed Little Journey!

Watching and waiting for the name to appear
When it does, I shall relive my worst fear
For I'll be seated in no time, strapped to my seat
I consider this for myself, my biggest feat.

I'm going to be up there with nothing to do
With a stranger next to me, reading the news
Whatever I do, frightened as ever I'll be
Throughout this cursed quick mid-air journey.

They'll walk back and forth, with things in their hands
Which I'll have no interest in, please do understand
While another just sits there staring their way
I know I'll be stuck here, only to pray.

What if lightning should strike, what if the clouds give way
What if the fog blinds us, what if a gun's pointing my way
What could I do then, what could I possibly say
For I know I'll be dead by the end of the day.

Hope the wheels touchdown, for it'll bring back delight
But will that ever happen, i know my plight
These thoughts, they shall come back, but as of now they fade
Just got to know the reality, well, the flight's delayed.

- Was just wondering how a guy with the fear of flying would think.....

THE PERFECT GIG!

Saw the LiveStream version of the Rock Am Ring Gig yesterday and thought I'd write a review as I was blown away by the performance!

Waited for Good Charlotte and Evanescence to finish which were both painful performances.....! After some gibberish from a local German and another equally bad Ain't Talkin 'Bout Love version, Velvet Revolver came on stage ..... and my first obvious guess was right........ They opened with LET IT ROLL! A fast belter of a song which seemed to have no impact on the crowd that was earlier cheering Good Charlotte! AMAZING! Slash's solo wasn't that audible as he was playing very close to the crowd.....

The next song was Do It For The Kids, which I thought would be a tester for Scott Weiland but he showed me and every VR fan how much his vocal abilities have improved.... a perfect version of the song, I gotta say!

The next intro, now very familiar to us VR fans, kept us ready for the new song SHE MINE, groovy riff, catchy vocal lines and Scott looking out thorugh Duff's legs as Duff stood on the monitors! LOL!!!!!!! Yeah, it was perfect!

The next song which was their first song on Contraband, Sucker Train Blues, was a very tight performance and Duff was amazing on Bass! Scott was going great song after song!

The next song Vasoline, made me jump up given that I'm a big STP fan! Never got to listen to a clear version of this song whenever VR played it, but this time with the gr8 sound...... WOW! The VR touch to it and the improvisation at the latter part of the song was amazing with Scott going clean on the mic!

Scott then shouted out "Alright Now Sausage Fest! 2007!" ..... another million dollar moment! LOL!!!!!

What came next left me dazed as Scott said "The next song's from our last new album, last album if u've heard and it's called JUST 16!" Believe me, my jaws were wide open!!!! But then, Scott corrected himself and said "From our last album and it's called Fall To Pieces"...... yeah, a sigh of relief!!! Anyway, Slash sounded amazing during the solo! And the backup vocals and a very clear Scott, made this one song hard to forget!

The next song was JUST 16 and it's my personal favourite from Libertad. The point in the song where Slash goes "Well I'm Just Sixteen" was awesome and shown through the great vibe that these guys have going! The two solos in the song were mind-blowing to say the least! A killer of a song!!!

The next two songs were covers It's So Easy (GN'R) and Sex Type Thing (STP)..... whenever i've scanned through Youtube, I've always noticed lines reading "Leave this song to Axl! Leave every GN'R song to Axl!"... The guys who wrote that line were surely made to think twice and eat their words as Scott proved how amazing a vocalist he is! It kept me thinking.... "Bring any GN'R song at the table, and Scott can dig it!" Yeah, he's improved a lot! The Slash solo is what I love about the song, not to mention the line "It's F***in Easy!" VR puled it off GR8!!!

Sex Type Thing was the song that defined the concert for me as the intro by Scott made me feel real good and when the song went on to the interlude, VR gave it their rendition.... they made the song sound groovier and Scott kept shouting out words like "Motivation, give me Liberation, Stimulation......" and then the fast chorus line brought the song to a fitting end.

Next song in, the first single off Libertad, SHE BUILDS QUICK MACHINES was intense and catchy as ever, the perfect bridge leading into the Slash solo.... aah... priceless!! Racin Bloody Beautiful is how i describe this song! Slash gave us VR fans a replay of the solo too! LOL!!

Set Me Free, which has to be the best live song by VR ever, was perfect by its own right and what was great to see was that throughout the song Scott never used the megaphone which he used a lot (for this song) at previous Gigs! Slash's solo would have made a fan out of every Anti-VR guy present there! Only bad thing about this song was when the sound lowered a bit, in the middle...

Again two covers Psycho Killer (Talking Heads) and Mr. Brownstone, were out of this world! Psycho Killer was all about Scott while Mr. Brownstone was an awesome all rounder!

There were lotsa covers but each one was of the quality they deserve!

And like it is a lot through VR gigs these days.... Slither was the song that would bring to an end this perfect performance! This song left everyone asking for more, I'm sure! The solo was amazing and so was the hooting improvisation and so the song and the performance came to an end as scott left the megaphone on stage blowing the siren.... VR STYLE!

All in all, the first and best VR gig i've seen live! The setlist needed more new songs but hell, we got all the covers we love! Scott Weiland will definitely keep the critics silenced as he keeps proving how great a frontman he is and how far his vocal abilities stretch out.... great from start to finish! Slash.........Well...... he was just the usual Guitar God that he is! The quality support from Matt(awesome on STT), Duff (the basslines off-a Sucker Train Blues are still ringing in my head) and Dave ( Fantastic throughout!) just goes to show how tight and Pro a band they are!

BLACKOUT....

Of blackened shadows and the moonlit haze
The moon stays still, although I gaze
The bulb's out, now with darkness everywhere
The cars and trees, I see, dark, yet so fair.

Of sleeping outside, i feel the urge
In the fresh air and cold breeze to submerge
But what if the sun rids me of my sleep
As morning in some hours shall on us, leap.

There's a small party of people, next to a car
I know of this, as they ain't that far
Do I join them or sit back and joyfully marvel
As the stars behind the many clouds, slowly unravel

A tune or two I shall play indoors
Only to return and count the score
The many stars that might appear before
A sight, with the lights out, worth a million or more.

The time has come and I'm out again
Can see the moon, but the stars ain't there
My luck's run out, of this, only now I learn
As the glowing bulb makes its uninvited return.

It's Blue Out There....

Seated outside am I, as the clouds just gave way,
Its raining again, and not a soul out there,
Enjoying this hour, wont make a move or sway,
Before it stops, before the sun's out again.

Oh, here he comes, piercing the clouds, with his rays,
Taking away what seem to me, the three probabilities
Realizing my wishes are in vain, he will replace,
The rain, the peace and all the tranquility

As often... screaming, playing and undisturbed,
I hear them, as the kids are back in the open,
For the sun has all the glory now, only stolen
The same the rain had some minutes ago, forgotten

He's hiding behind the clouds now, at times a peer,
With his rays like fingers, feeding the light,
To the places in darkness, distant from here,
Appearing farther, yet not so far from sight.

He's done all he could, and the day now comes to an end,
Unlike everyday, but in a surreal and unusual way,
The three of them, the rain, the sun and now the moon
I got a chance to see......... all on the very same day.

- It feels gr8 to come up with stuff on a rainy day.......

It's Time.....

Stumbled down a cliff, and am now down on the ground,
Do I lie right here, or will I help myself up
The masks may think i've given in and be stun(ned),
But I have decided and the latter's already begun.....

She Builds Quick Machines!!!!

"Nah! They ain't anything great........" Have heard this many times. Well, I definitely never thought so! What I believed was that if they were given some time, they'd rock! The guys from Velvet Revolver just proved me right with their first single 'She Builds Quick Machines'!!!!!!!!

A slick start on the drums, bass kicks in and the demon that is "She Builds Quick Machines" starts with a Kushner rhythm...... Slash fills in, Weiland brings back the days of STP and the chorus belts hard! Duff's back-up makes the chorus catchier. The bridge that follows is a clean Weiland who leaves the rest for Slash who does a mindblowingly fast solo, reminiscent of the GN'R days!

And last but not least, the guys who belt Weiland off as a bad vocalist are made to think twice!(Roll Over, right!) And from what i've heard of this album, its clear how catchy Weiland can get with the vocal lines! They just managed to smash right through the spotlight, if you ask me! Rock Hard VR!!!!!! \m/

THE PERFECT PACKAGE!

hmm........... A Perfect Circle......... reminded me of Tool at first listen... Well, Ofcourse! With James Maynard Keenan on vocals, what do u expect! The music's similar to Tool too. But what i realized was that one can't categorize their music. Every song's different from the other. And the lyrics are dark as ever, yet the melody makes you wanna sink into the ever so deep sea that is the band's music! So the dark lyrics, melodic vocal lines , great unpredictable guitar riffs, dark yet groovy bass lines and the aggression seem to bring to picture A Perfect Circle. Though now on a hiatus, if they come up with a fourth album, it'll be a Killer hands down!!!!

Peace Out!

BLACKENED!

"Of Life In Black & White
Enter Sin City, Meet That Darker Side"

Picked up a Sin City issue yesterday at Crosswords, nope didnt buy it though, cash anyone? :p
Was totally in awe with the artwork inside, amazing what black and white can do to a story..... Lotsa violence which can make you cringe, but with the artwork and a pinch of dark humour here and there, you'll be left with the thought "Hell, I should have bought that!" I definitely felt that way.... :)

HOW APT!!!!!

Came home by bus today...... was an amazing experience, I gotta say. Especially with the music on. My companion throughout the journey was my Discman (would have died without it!). So the journey starts with me plugging in my discman and listening to an assorted songlist..... started with some Bush and went on to an entire cycle of Radiohead's The Bends. Then I thought maybe Iron Maiden would be good but just couldn't go the whole way. As the bus exitted Mumbai, I changed to Army Of Anyone and Audioslave which are both good 'On the Move' kinda albums. After shuffling through 4 cds, I decided to listen to Stone Temple Pilots, all 5 albums back to back. Could listen only to 4 albums, but what I realized yesterday was that "Core" their first album seems an awesome Roadtrip kinda album! The lyrics of most of the songs seemed to coincide with whatever I saw and thought on the journey. Started with Dead and Bloated at the first stop after Mumbai and as the bus began to move, I was already onto the next track Sex Type Thing with the line "Here I come, I come, I come, I come".... was like me saying here I come B'lore ! As I moved to Wicked Garden the surroundings were awesome mountains and trees everywhere. Then the bus went up a flyover and as we came down to take a left, the road seemed to get lower and lower as another flyover began to the right...right time for the line of the song Sin "Down you go, suffer long
Down you go, sin make me strong"

Next track in, Naked Sunday left an awesome feeling in my head as the bus was again on a flyover rising high with similar surroundings, high mountains and trees and a clear sky.... A right place to scream like Weiland does on this song. Creep among all this made me realize what a great life I have ahead of me and the shame of letting it go....wasted! Then the dark Piece Of Pie brought me back to reality. Plush...... a fitting song for any situation! As I was still half-way through the thought of "Life's so beautiful, want to enjoy every second of it, Wanna stay back here, till I find the reason for life" there are the lines....
"And I feel that time's a wasted go
So where ya going ´til tomorrow?...........
Got time, time, wait for tomorrow
To find it, to find it, to find it"

The next Morrison kinda track Wet My Bed begins and I can see a tunnel starting ahead, little far though......and just as the bus enters the tunnel the last jokey line "Hehe, Now What?" leads me into Crackerman and all of a sudden I'm through 3 tunnels with Weiland going
"Roamin', roamin', roam
Get away, gotta get away
And I think I think too much
I don't care, yeah but I don't care
Roamin', roamin', roam
Get away, gotta get away
And I think I think too much" and as this song is done a lot on the megaphone, it gives you that echo kinda feeling inside the tunnels! Amazingly apt!

Then I move onto the next track as the many tunnels go past and the Sun begins to set. This time with all the lovely scenery around one couldn't consider Where The River Goes being a more fitting end to the evening.... and the lines again.....
"I wanna be as big as a mountain
I wanna fly as high as the sun
I wanna know what the rent's like in heaven
I wanna know where the river goes"

And as the Deleo brothers take me through the enchanting rhythm and music, I notice that the Sun isn't there anymore! The sky's all dark now and I just finished listening to an album which showed there's more depth to it than just the music!

So if you ask me whether I enjoyed the journey............... I'll give you a big HELL YEAH!

Gotta Give It To GIVSON!!!!!!

Well, i'd been thinking of buying a bass for a long time and when the day came i was so very confused on which one to buy, when to stop shuffling through them, etc....

Taking Putta made the job easier. We went to the usual "GUITAR PLACE"..... Rhythms (wahahahahahhahahahahaha) to buy the one guitar. Putta and I tried all the makes in that shop but then decided what the shopkeeper said was right... "Their products were inferior!".... Plus we couldn't stand the emotional torture the Business-minded shopkeeper put us through, actually only Putta was the tortured one.... Anyway having had enough, we went to another one of those "Land Of The Rabbits", World Of Music and began the usual picking and "Naah, do you have any other?"

The guitars we saw here were ones we had never heard of before, Ritfeller, WS, etc..... After 6 total hours of "This one sucks......", we decided to get down to the INEVITABLE! Putta asked the shopkeeper if he had any more basses in the godown and Voila! We found 2 awesome guitars! One was a JHATANG Grason (MAN! They never stop making fakes... Givson then Gulson then Gibtone and now Grason!). But apart from the jhatang quality looks, the sound was amazing! We asked him to get another one.... and there came the GIVSON! That's the make we decided would be the last resort! Normally, when you tell a guitarist that you are going to buy a Givson bass, he'd be like "ANYTHING BUT THAT!!!" But this one had amazing sound, tone, sustenance, frets and looks (Metallic Silver).... so...... I BOUGHT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus this was a one in a million case...GIVSON coming up with such a great product for 6,500 grand! WOAH!!!!!

So now it's there at home while I'm in Mumbai...tsk, tsk.......

The best part is Putta actually dreamt of me playing totally radical solos on a Givson! Little did we expect the dream to come true! I actually did end up buying a Givson!!!! Well, now i have to work on making the latter part of the dream to come true "PLAY RADICAL SOLOS!"

So with the INTENSIVE BASS TRAINING coming my way through Putta's expertise, let's see..... Eventually maybe..........

So You Gonna Write A Song?

Music bands are not only about the melody, the lyrics matter too. Consider listening to a song which you get addicted to and then when you browse through the lyrics of the song.....they just don't make sense!

So who are\were the best lyricists in the world of music? Here's my Top Three Favourites........ Don't kill me coz Bob Dylan isn't in the list! I still have to go through that phase.

1. Jim Morrison
The Doors

2. Eddie Vedder
Pearl Jam

3. James Maynard Keenan
Tool\ A Perfect Circle

ALREADY LIBERATED!!!

This is the cover for the upcoming Velvet Revolver album LIBERTAD which is a follow-up to their debut album CONTRABAND (2004). LIBERTAD is scheduled for a June 2007 release. The clock's tickin and I'm already liberated!!

Here's an excerpt from Revolver Magazine, Weiland doing the talking....

SCOTT WEILAND AND FRIENDS PREP "A REAL MEAN ROCK-AND-ROLL RECORD"

To help ensure that their second album lives up to their double platinum debut, 2004's Contraband, Velvet Revolver hired legendary producer Rick Rubin, whose most recent credits include the Red Hot Chili Pepper's Grammy-nominated disc Stadium Arcadium. But after three months of preproduction and little input from Rubin, the bandmates were bickering and banging their heads against the wall- and not in a good way. So they severed ties with Rubin and brought in Brendan O' Brien, who had worked with Weiland in his Stone Temple Pilots days. The switch was just what Velver Revolver needed. "We've gotten more done in the first two weeks with him than we had with Rick in the past two months". says Weiland, who filled us in on the latest.

What Happened with Rick Rubin?
He's got a great resume, but he wasn't jibing with us. After we started working with him, he was never around. We saw him maybe one or two times, and all of a sudden it's two and a half months later and we're stuck in the mud. We're showing up to practice every day and working, but we're going over the same things over and over and running into the same problems because there's a lot of strong personalities in the band and we need someone to come in and kick our asses a little bit.

Why was Brendan O' Brien the man for the job?
He rocks things forward at a crazy pace. There's a whole new vibe, and it's been contagious.

How much material do you have for the record?
We wrote 40 songs, and we've whittled it down to 25, We'll probably cut that down to 13 or 14. I think we'll be here with Brendan for another month, and then we'll have about two weeks of recording. So the record should be out in spring.

How will this album differ from Contraband?
When the band first got together, we were sort of like shipwreck victims reaching for a life raft. We were so excited to be making a record that we laid down a lot of tracks because we didn't want to let go. Now we've known each other a long time and done hundreds of shows, so this one will be more simple and display the band as it sounds right now whitout lots of layers.

Are there any different influences at play?
I don't like much new stuff. I've been listening to a lot of the Who and Pink Floyd, and you might be able to hear some of that. But also you're gonna hear other people's influences. Like, I know Duff's favorite artist is Iggy Pop, and I always hear the Stooges in his writing.

You've said this would be a concept record. Is that still the case?
I had been working on a concept that I had put a lot of time into, but i shot that all to hell because in the last 12 months there have been innumerous alleged concept albums that have been released by innumerous schlock rock bands that i despise. And to put out a concept album in a marketplace that is already littered with trite bullshit would be a disservice to rock fans. So instead we decided to write a real mean rock and roll record.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS- CORE

This is one album which was never given much credit as it was released at the same time Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains made it big in the Grunge scene. STP as they are also called, as a result of this album, were considered "Alice In Chains Wannabes" at that time. But their debut album, Core, as of today is rightfully considered one of those big Grunge albums. If you ask me, not a bad song on that album!

Core starts off with an amazing Scott Weiland on the megaphone (which he uses a lot throughout the album) on the song "Dead And Bloated" only to move on to two of their greatest ever hits "Sex Type Thing" and "Wicked Garden". "No Memory" is an instrumental song, come to think of it, a filler on the album, but a good whiskey kinda tune. Then the album seems to take a darker touch with the song "Sin", amazing vocals and a great solo gotta say! "Naked Sunday" has that Led Zeppelin kinda vibe and is my favourite. It's a fast moving track with Weiland bellowing on.....What comes next is one of their most famous songs "Creep" which is a slow grunge melody, though monotonous, I think. "Piece Of Pie" is the song which brings out the darker side of Grunge in the album. Then comes the evergreen "Plush" which is an amazing song which one could listen to a million times and yet never get bored of. "Wet My Bed",a poetic entry into the album, which is the other filler, is not too great. "Crackerman" brings back Weiland on the megaphone in what is a racing song with very good solo work. The song which serves as the conclusion to the album is "Where The River Goes", one of STP's longest songs but something on the lines of "Sin" and "Piece Of Pie" with violins and very good melody.

All in all, a great album and one which puts today's musicians to shame...

Stoned On A Sunday!

May 7th, 2006.... The day we had all been waiting for.. Our first attempt at Sunday Jam! Didn't exactly go the way we expected, but it was an awesome experience for me atleast. Being a new band, we were either offered a slot right at the beginning, the middle or as the last band on stage. And the way my luck goes, we got the latter slot! DAMN! BLACKOUT to play when it's all dark! WOW!

The featured band of the day was Prasanna and the Electric Ganesha Band....long name, huh? They stuck to the stage the longest too! Prasanna was amazing. I remember sitting close to the stage and watching him come up with amazing solos! But after a while it got too much.... we were getting really impatient for our turn to come. So Putta (Rahul- Lead) and Abhijith (Twin Lead) decided to practice till our turn came... this actually caught the eye of the Rave journalists too! We were even asked for an interview before we even played! They were talking to the wrong band, I guess...but it was awesome. The interview never happened though! LOL!

So it turned out that we were to set foot on the stage at 12:00 AM! Not kidding, the schedule went way overboard...and we were given 10 minutes to jam on stage... What followed was utter chaos! Amit's keyboard didn't function, Putta's guitar strap snapped and we had no time to do a soundcheck! Being the last band on stage, the sound guys neglected us too! It was now or never!

Putta sat down like he was playing a sitar, while Amit tried to figure out what was wrong with his keyboard... But we had only ten minutes, so Abhi played the intro of Slither (Velvet Revolver) immediately and we were off! There were just five rows of people left in the crowd by now and I told myself 'Let's see if I can pull this crowd atleast' and went loud on the mic... I still remember seeing the stunned faces of my bro and sis in the crowd! Hell, even Amit was surprised, shocked I must say... here was I, a guy who talks least among everyone in the band and suddenly I was shouting my a** off! I couldn't believe it too!

We played a fast version of Slither with Shreyas (Drums) going hard on the Pearl kit! Putta played the Slash lead when still on his knees! I was over the moon! After the song we were told to finish really fast and so we played an own composition, The Fire Still Burns.... which was not a complete song as of then...still isn't! Putta and Abhi went hard on their guitars, while I was left headbanging with nothing else to do... we didn't even have lyrics for the song...LOL! I remember someone among the crowd shouting "Where's the fire da?" and I replied "Here baby, Yeah!!"... growling out loud! We finished the song with a trademark Putta solo....and the song got over with me shooting myself in the head (not with Gun macha, hand only!)

As we got off stage, each of us were high on the performance! Anybody got booze? I could barely speak after shouting so much! My cousin Nakul came by and asked me "Where did all that energy come from!" Man, did I stun everyone who came there that day! Sorry guys!

Shreyas was totally high! He kept saying "Da macha, Heavy Metal anthe! Is it a Moozic?!" He was obviously in the "WE RULE!" mood!

We then decided to call it a day after going to Mascot! Ah, holy food! Thanx to Ramya (Putta's sis) for the idea and for the free band van (tour van, I must say)! After having tasted the heavenly food, we went back to our Adda, Putta's house for a sleepover. We had some fun leaving Amit locked inside the car too, not for the whole night though!

Woke up in the morning thinking to myself 'It wasn't a dream right?!'

An amazing experience I must say! The order of the day at Sunday Jam was Heavy Metal but we stuck to Hard Rock as we wanted to be different... Just hope we didn't disappoint the crowd...

The 18th one.......

What I expected to be just another boring Birthday ended up being the most fun day ever..... I stayed up till 5 in the morning (crazy!!!) doing maths and I gotta say this must be the only birthday I've have spent so much time studying. It wasn't that bad but as the hours passed by, I got more and more bored till I decided to check my mail and found Putta (Rahul) online. Yeah he was one of the many people who actually didn't remember my birthday.

It turned out that he and Gagan were to go to Aiwas...what they call "the Rabbit place"....well...don't ask me why.........so putta asked me to tag along, and so I did. I decided to carry extra cash to eventually treat them there and you know how these treats end up.....before I knew it, I had to treat an entire gang! All of whom didn't even know the occasion! I had an awesome time with the "Bitti Oota Gang" :p! There was the usual non-sense....stuff like us talking about the Happy Birthday Song in Sanskrit (Padma and Deepthi actually ended up singing it, much to our amusement :p! Felt like killing Bhatta at that instant!), Veg vs Non-veg war of words and the gayness of Putta of all things! Finished half the pesticide which was meant for him, not to mention the fried chicken too....damn! I let Gagan escape!

But that wasn't all that happened. Once back at Putta's place, I got to see some Rajkumar histrionics too! Came to know exactly why Veerappan let him go! And then for some wierd sadistic reason Deepthi kept checking out when each of us would die! Hate to say it, but turns out i'm the first one! Wait for this date people : December 31st, 2062.....long time to go....but yeah you'll have to tolerate me till then! Won't be a Happy New Year for me, i guess (won't even get to see it :().....but hope and i'm sure Google's wrong!

And then there was the photo session with some people having their photos taken while "handing out" cash (only one case, actually) and some with flashy sun-glasses on...gotta say some looked blind wearing them... I was out of the photo shoot though....not much of a camera-person.....

Came back home to have Paani puri and later what some people call "Dead Poultry"! And the best part was I ended up cutting the cake at 11:45 pm! So all in all it was a great day and one that I'll never forget.

PS:- And yeah! thanx again guys, for saving me from bankruptcy..... Bitti oota anyone?

To Be Or Not To Be......That Is The Question

To be or not to be....
Reluctantly i've got to see
Its only time that reminds me
Am I chained or am i Free

Every step i take, every point i make
Seems to me, a piece of cake
Its got to be tougher, the path i take
Seeking my desire i stay wide awake.

As time flies by, remember must we
To give the best in order to achieve
A thought it takes, a spark maybe
To illuminate my life, i must first believe

To lead my life peacefully
I must fight inadvertently
The time has come for me to be
The best the world, has to see

I must achieve when i am free
Something for the whole world to see
Can't do more, just leave me be
Coz what i do today, will make me be

The past to me is a sparkling revelation
Must work hard with all dedication
Have i learnt from life's remorseless lesson
Well, my friend, that is the question....

- I came up with this at MCC.....was hard to concentrate but this piece happened!

A Place Called Forever

If i lived in a place called forever
Would i have the time to do whatever?
A wonderful place for me to adorn
Would i be able to stand alone?

However it is, Forever will be
A life i would lead peacefully
Creatively, I would strive to be
A person no-one has ever lived to see

The trees will sparkle, flowers will dance,
The stars will shine when given a chance
All it takes, is a glance
Sending everyone into a never-ending trance.

Here I will change my life, definitely
This goal I shall achieve gleefully
This cage remains open indefinitely
For a bird like me to fly freely.

The maker am I of my own true life,
All it asks for is little more strife
Will decide to live, never to die
Giving up all the forsaken lies.

The World is wide and forever huge
It is the best place to seek refuge
The place called forever is after all a desire
An unknown place, to soar ever higher.

The world is ours and will forever be
To shape our lives, responsible are we
To any limit and every degree
My Forever, this World, will always be.

- This I wrote at the JNC Fest (Consider it my worst, but hell i had only half an hour to come up with it!)

The Blank Page

Searching for the right way out of the dark
All I ask is a glitter of hope, a spark
The past keeps flashing within my mind
The path to the light I am seeking to find.

If i could just have those wasted days back
To pave a way that puts me back on track
I'd take it now, take it anytime
Even if it cost me million a dime.

So very fast have the days passed by
Its getting harder and harder to live this lie
To live it or give in I can't decide
With this guilt and pain residing inside

Its time i left the past aside
This golden rule i have to abide
Look ahead, not turn back and sigh
This decision i make, i have to stand by.

To spend every minute with utmost care
With the years ahead i have to spare
No remorse, no refrain
The life I'm left with, I shall retain.

I have decided now, come what may,
This is exactly how i shall lead the way
Yesterday's forgotten, tomorrow's ahead
It is today that i have to mend.

Gift or curse, wrong or right,
The time has come for me to fight
To shape my life back upright
This blank page of mine, i tear tonight.

- This was my first take at poetry and it was at the Christ Fest.....CHRIST!!!! DID IT SUCK!!!!!

I'm IN! Ain't I?

So here i am thanx to one.... goobey.....who kept pushing me to start a blog! So yeah now that I'm in, u people will have to try your hardest to live through the crap i come up with! SO ENJOY! Atleast TRY MAADI!
