HOW APT!!!!!
Came home by bus today...... was an amazing experience, I gotta say. Especially with the music on. My companion throughout the journey was my Discman (would have died without it!). So the journey starts with me plugging in my discman and listening to an assorted songlist..... started with some Bush and went on to an entire cycle of Radiohead's The Bends. Then I thought maybe Iron Maiden would be good but just couldn't go the whole way. As the bus exitted Mumbai, I changed to Army Of Anyone and Audioslave which are both good 'On the Move' kinda albums. After shuffling through 4 cds, I decided to listen to Stone Temple Pilots, all 5 albums back to back. Could listen only to 4 albums, but what I realized yesterday was that "Core" their first album seems an awesome Roadtrip kinda album! The lyrics of most of the songs seemed to coincide with whatever I saw and thought on the journey. Started with Dead and Bloated at the first stop after Mumbai and as the bus began to move, I was already onto the next track Sex Type Thing with the line "Here I come, I come, I come, I come".... was like me saying here I come B'lore ! As I moved to Wicked Garden the surroundings were awesome mountains and trees everywhere. Then the bus went up a flyover and as we came down to take a left, the road seemed to get lower and lower as another flyover began to the right...right time for the line of the song Sin "Down you go, suffer long
Down you go, sin make me strong"
Next track in, Naked Sunday left an awesome feeling in my head as the bus was again on a flyover rising high with similar surroundings, high mountains and trees and a clear sky.... A right place to scream like Weiland does on this song. Creep among all this made me realize what a great life I have ahead of me and the shame of letting it go....wasted! Then the dark Piece Of Pie brought me back to reality. Plush...... a fitting song for any situation! As I was still half-way through the thought of "Life's so beautiful, want to enjoy every second of it, Wanna stay back here, till I find the reason for life" there are the lines....
"And I feel that time's a wasted go
So where ya going ´til tomorrow?...........
Got time, time, wait for tomorrow
To find it, to find it, to find it"
The next Morrison kinda track Wet My Bed begins and I can see a tunnel starting ahead, little far though......and just as the bus enters the tunnel the last jokey line "Hehe, Now What?" leads me into Crackerman and all of a sudden I'm through 3 tunnels with Weiland going
"Roamin', roamin', roam
Get away, gotta get away
And I think I think too much
I don't care, yeah but I don't care
Roamin', roamin', roam
Get away, gotta get away
And I think I think too much" and as this song is done a lot on the megaphone, it gives you that echo kinda feeling inside the tunnels! Amazingly apt!
Then I move onto the next track as the many tunnels go past and the Sun begins to set. This time with all the lovely scenery around one couldn't consider Where The River Goes being a more fitting end to the evening.... and the lines again.....
"I wanna be as big as a mountain
I wanna fly as high as the sun
I wanna know what the rent's like in heaven
I wanna know where the river goes"
And as the Deleo brothers take me through the enchanting rhythm and music, I notice that the Sun isn't there anymore! The sky's all dark now and I just finished listening to an album which showed there's more depth to it than just the music!
So if you ask me whether I enjoyed the journey............... I'll give you a big HELL YEAH!
